Casey & Nick’s Intimate Wedding at Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort in Summit County, Colorado
Arapahoe Basin, or A-Bay as Coloradans like to call it, is one of my very favorite places. Within summit county, A-Bay is a small and quaint ski mountain. But don’t let the size fool you, Arapahoe Basin’s backdrop is made up of super rugged, jagged mountain walls of the Continental Divide. They remind me of a smaller version of the Grand Tetons in Wyoming!
When I first arrived at A-Bay, it looked like a storm was rolling in. Afternoon rain storms are super common in the Colorado mountain and fortunately tend to pass quickly. Within about 10 minutes, the rain started pounding down. But fortunately within just another 10 minutes, it was gone. Blue skies quickly began peaking through the passing clouds and we were left with perfect photo conditions!
I met up with the guys while they were grabbing a beer. After hanging with them for a few, they finished up their beers and hopped on the chairlift to make their way to the ceremony site. Once they were in the clear, Casey made her way out with her dad to the chairlift. I LOVE that they were able to have that time on the chairlift together. One of the many reasons I love small weddings is they tend to be much less chaotic for the couple. Casey was able to have the time and space to have a quiet moment with her dad up the chairlift before he gave her away to her about-to-be husband. It was so special.

After the ceremony, the passing rain shower from earlier in the day had left us with epic light for photos! There was even a point near sunset that the sun peaked through the cloud before hitting the horizon in a way that caused a yellow light beam to shoot across the bottom quarter of the mountain wall. It was wild.
Arapahoe Basin Ski Mountain is such an epic spot for an elopement or intimate wedding.
